Unusual Christmas Cards

Take a Look at the Latest Unusual Holiday Cards

Why be dull? In my previous article on cool Christmas cards, I highlighted some of the types of unusual holiday cards available, from round cards to tri-fold cards to ones that include your Christmas letter right on the card so you don't have to print and stuff it separately in the envelope.

This article is going to show some more examples of my favorite unusual holiday cards that you can personalize and purchase online.

Ornament Cards Don't Need to Head Straight to Trash

The vast majority of cards sent during the Christmas season end up in the garbage as soon as the holidays are over. That's a terrible waste of paper. But one of the cool new trends in greetings is ornament cards. These unusual holiday cards can generally be personalized with a photo so they can serve a dual purpose.

First, they deliver seasons greetings to your card recipient (just like any other photo card), and second, they become a photo-personalized addition to the Christmas tree. The ability to hang on the tree with a photo makes them a great keepsake for years to come, rather than just another addition to the garbage heap.

These ornament cards are becoming more popular, so you now have plenty of options to choose from. Add a new ornament to the tree every year!

These Cards Aren't Square

Who says a Christmas card has to be a rectangle? Although traditional greeting cards are typically either a horizontal or vertical rectangular shape, there's no rule that says all cards must be that way. And shaped cards are more fun!

Shaped cards are another trend that is becoming more popular. The examples below show some of the options now available on the market.

Today's holiday greetings might be shaped like penguins, winter mittens, Christmas stockings or snowmen. Yet you'll still have plenty of room to personalize these cards with your own text or photos. And they fit inside regular envelopes, so you won't need to worry about the mail carrier struggling to read an address on a penguin-shaped envelope.

Cards That Include Recipes, Holiday Letters and More

Another trend that's becoming more popular is personalized photo Christmas cards that can be used to share information such as recipes, poems, your annual holiday letter, and plenty of photos.

Incorporating this text right into the card means you won't need to stuff an extra sheet of paper into each greeting. With cards like the ones shown below, you can print your family Christmas letter right in the card, include a favorite holiday recipe or just impress your friends and family with multiple photos and clever designs.
